The purpose of this Act is to promote economically, ecologically and socially sustainable management and use of forests. The purpose of the support referred to in this Act is to 1) increase forest growth, 2) maintain a road network for forestry, 3) protect the biological diversity of forests; 4) contribute to the adaptation of forests to climate change. Financial support is defined by the State Financial Aid Act of 2001. Projects proposed by private owners of forest land may be financed. Owners who apply for financing shall develop a plan. The Finnish Forest Agency is the state authority granting aid under this Act. Certain nature protection measures can be financed, but the Nature Conservation Act of 1996 has its own incentive programme. Full text Swedish Website www.finlex.fi
