The Temotu Provincial Government seeks to ensure the long-term conservation and the sustainable utilization of the fishery resources of the Province for the benefit of the people of Temotu Province. The Provincial Executive may establish a Provincial Fisheries Advisory Committee, the functions of which are defined by this Ordinance. The Ordinance also, among other things: sets out procedures for approval of fisheries projects; provide with respect to customary fishing rights; provide with respect to endorsement of national local fishing licences; provides for the declaration of protected places by the Provincial Executive.
