Abstract

This Technical Regulation “Safety of meat and meat-based products” establishes mandatory safety requirements for products of slaughtering and meat products and requirements for the processing, storage, transportation, trade and disposal, as well as labelling and packaging related to meat and meat-based products circulating on the national territory. Meat and meat-based products can be released on market on condition of compliance thereof with the provisions of this Technical Regulation. The objects of technical regulation by this Technical Regulation shall be: (a) products of slaughtering and meat products: meat; offal; raw fat and its by-products, including grease; blood and its by-products; bones and its by-products; meat mechanically deboned; raw intestinal; collagen-containing raw materials and products of its processing (including gelatin); meat and meat-containing products obtained from meat; meat and meat-containing sausages; meat and meat-containing semi-finished products and culinary products; meat and meat-containing canned foods; broth meat and meat-containing broth; dry meat and meat-containing products; fat products; products of slaughtering for infant food; and meat products for infant food; and (b) the processes of manufacturing, packaging, labelling, storage, transportation, trade, disposal of products of slaughtering and meat-based products. Meat and meat-based products shall be subject to identification and traceability, in accordance by the declaration of the applicant, by the authorized state supervisory bodies in accordance with their competence. Products of slaughtering and meat products shall be accompanied by veterinary certificate. Meat and meat-based products circulating on the national territory before shell life expiry date must be safe for human consumption. Unidentified products of slaughtering shall be subject to mandatory recycling. Packaging materials contacting with products of slaughtering and meat must ensure safety of products and immutability of identification marks when handling products of slaughtering and meat products on the national territory during the shelf life.
