Abstract

This Order, made under paragraph 7 of the Smallholder Tea Authority Order, provides rules for the nursing of tea plants, and the production of and trade in tea leaves. Establishment of a tea nursery requires a permission of the Smallholder Tea Authority and a grower may use only planting material which has been supplied by the Authority. A grower will be required at all times to maintain his or her tea garden to the standards of soil and plant husbandry laid down from time to time by the Project Manager, i.e. the senior executive of the Authority. The Authority shall also otherwise control the growing of tea leaves and the manufacture of tea and shall be the only buyer of such leaves.
