Abstract This Act establishes the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute and the Tanzania Livestock Research Institute Board, defines their functions and powers and provides with respect to the administration and operations of the Institute. The Institute shall carry out research on livestock breeding, production, processing, storage, utilization and marketing of animal products and by-products, pasture and forage development, animal feed, utilization and management of rangeland resources, animal health and welfare and local and indigenous knowledge in animal production. It shall also promote and coordinate such research in Tanzania and keep and maintain a database of information relating to livestock research. The Centres specified in the First Schedule shall be deemed to have been established under this Act and the control and management of their business and affairs is hereby vested in the Institute.
