These Rules enter into force from the date of publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
Abstract

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 43 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious diseases in Animals Act, 2009 (Central Act No. 27 of 2009), the Governor of Tamil Nadu, with the approval of the Central Government, hereby makes the following Rules. The officer in charge of the Quarantine Camp shall detain the animals: (i) which are suffering from any scheduled disease; or (ii) which have come into contact with or have been kept in the proximity of animal infected with a scheduled disease; or (iii) transported by the officer in charge of the check post as detailed in sub-rule (d) of rule 4; or (iv) of the species (notified under Section 10 of the Act) while exiting from the infected area; and shall be subjected to a quarantine of fourteen days in a Quarantine Camp. (b) The Officer in charge of the Quarantine Camp shall give an official acknowledgement to the animal owner for the animals detained in the quarantine Camp. The form of the Detention Acknowledgement is appended as Form B. (c) During quarantine, the animals shall be ear-tagged bearing a unique number for cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat and pigs and microchip/any other suitable method for donkey, horses, Animals shall be examined regularly for any scheduled disease. Animal shall be vaccinated against the scheduled disease and provided with veterinary treatment, if required. If animals are vaccinated, the animal owner shall be provided with a vaccination certificate as required under Section 9 of the Act. (d) The cost of maintenance and vaccination of the animals during the quarantine shall be fixed by the Commissioner/Director from time to time and shall be borne by the animal owner. (e) After successful quarantine, the officer in Charge of the Quarantine camp shall release the animals to the animal owner and also grant the Quarantine Release Permit as per Form C appended with these Rules, under his signature. Form C shall also serve as Entry Permit as required under sub-section (2) of Section 15 of the Act.
