Abstract

This Act empowers the State government to take remedial measures to eradicate any pests, disease or weed in a local area if it is dangerous to health, injurious to crops, plants or trees or water supply or is obstructive to waterways. The Act also provides the measures that may be implemented to eradicate any pests, disease or weed, such as, destruction of the affected trees or plants. Additionally, the Act provides for compensation to occupier for trees and plants destroyed and penalties for violating the provisions of the Act.
