The Act sets the principles for sustainable forest management (Part 2), provides for the management of forests and timber resources (Parts 3 and 5), the licensing system (Part 4), timber harvesting (Parts 6 and 7), fire prevention and suppression (Part 8) and for its enforcement (Part 9).
