Abstract The present Act creates a framework for land survey by Alberta government surveyors. The Minister shall designate an official belonging to its staff to acts as the Director of Surveys. The latter shall: a) coordinate the establishment, maintenance and preservation of the land survey system for the purpose of determining the extent of the various rights in land; b) coordinate the establishment and maintenance of a geographical positioning system; c) coordinate the establishment and maintenance of a mapping system; d) coordinate the development and maintenance of a land-related information systems network.
