Country/Territory Document type Regulation Date 2013 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Marine fisheries Fishery management and conservation Marine fishes Sustainable use Data collection/reporting Monitoring Abstract This Resolution of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) imposes certain reporting obligations on Members and Cooperating non-Members of the Commission (CPCs) in respect of catch of North Pacific albacore in the Convention Area. The Director and the IATTC scientific staff shall, in coordination with the International Scientific Committee for Tuna and Tuna-like Species in the North Pacific Ocean (ISC), monitor the status of North Pacific albacore tuna and report on the status of the stock at each annual meeting. The IATTC scientific staff shall review work undertaken within the ISC and the WCPFC towards the development of a precautionary approach framework for North Pacific albacore that includes target and limit reference points and harvest control rules, and make recommendations in respect of such a framework for consideration by the Commission. The Commission shall continue efforts to promote compatibility between the conservation and management measures adopted by the IATTC and the WCPFC in their goals and effectiveness with respect to North Pacific albacore.
