The Department General of Meteorology and Hydrology shall have the following roles and responsibilities: to prepare policies, guidelines and standards involved in water resources either surface or underground for irrigation by people throughout the country; to study, research and assess programs for the rehabilitation and development of the meteorology and hydrology sector throughout the country; to be responsible for the construction and repair of the network of hydrology throughout the country; to prepare meteorology and hydrology forecasts, cooperate in this respect internationally, gather data, etc. The Department shall be under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
