Abstract The present Law lays down provisions relating to waste management in Styria. Waste management has to be conducted in such a way that: 1) harmful effect on humans, plants, animals and on the environment in general are to be avoided; 2) the emission of harmful substances in the air is kept at a minimum level; 3) natural resources, such as water bodies, air, energy, landscapes are to be spared; 4) materials made from recycling are not more hazardous than those resulting from natural resources; 5) the remaining residue will have to be such not representing a danger to future generations. The text consists of 24 articles divided into 4 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Collection and Disposal of waste (2); Waste management (3); Final, penal and transitional provisions (4).
