Abstract

This Strategic Plan is a nationwide sectoral document developed by the Ministry of Social Development, in line with the national trends set by the Jordan Vision 2025, and taking into account the requirements of the Government's Executive Development Programme (2016-2018), with the aim of creating a distinguished Ministry, supportive of a safe, stable and family based society that reaches the social justice. The sectoral goals for society and social protection as mentioned in the Executive Development Programme 2016-2019 included the following three sectoral goals (1) protect individuals and their families from dangers they may face during their life cycle and structural changes in their communities; (2) promote cooperation and coordination between the bodies concerned with social protection; and (3) motivate institutions, companies, and the private, voluntary and non-governmental sectors to assume their social responsibilities. The Strategic Plan includes also 5 goals arising from the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely (i) poverty eradication in all its forms everywhere; (ii) total elimination of hunger, providing food security and improved nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture; (iii) achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; (iv) reducing inequality within and between countries; and (v) make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
