Abstract The Strategic Plan is a national policy with a cross-sectoral approach. The timeframe of the Strategy is 5 years between 2013 and 2017. The overall goal of the Strategy is to protect and improve the health of all in an equitable manner by (i) protecting the individual and the community from health risks and foster healthy life styles, (ii) providing accessible, appropriate, effective, and efficient health services to individuals and the community, (iii) responding to the health needs and expectations of individuals based on a human-centred and holistic approach, and (iv) developing the health system in line with the economic and social development of Turkey and global health.
