The Agency is a body of state administration and management in hydrometeorology and observance of the level of environmental pollution. The main functions of Kyrghyzhydromet shall be as follows: conduct systematic observation of meteorological and hydrological, agro-metereological conditions, situation of the air, agricultural crops and pasture vegetation, pollution of surface water, soil, air including radioactive situation, ensure collection, analysis, integration of data; develop and improve the national system of hydrometereological observation including observation of environmental pollution; prepare weather forecasts, forecasts on water content in rivers, advance notices about accidental meteorological occurrences and extreme high levels of environmental; pollution; equip the national observation system for monitoring of the status and pollution of the environment with the current technical means of measurement, communication as well as material and technical procurement of subdivisions for their fulfilment of tasks; ensure long-term and short-term planning of activity of the Agency and implementation of plans of economic and social development; cooperate in hydrometeorology within the framework of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Interstate Council on Hydrometereology of the CIS.
