Abstract The present Regulations are made under the Planning and Development Act 200. In particular, the purpose of the Statements of Provincial Interest is to: 1) identify provincial interests to guide provincial and municipal planning decisions in the development of safe and secure communities; 2) align provincial and municipal planning objectives to facilitate orderly development that is beneficial to communities; and 3) guide the development of economically, environmentally, socially and culturally sustainable communities.
