Abstract

The purpose of the declaration of a compulsory standard is primarily to prevent fraud or deception arising from misleading advertising or labelling of pre-packaged goods and to require that adequate information be given to customers and users. It applies to all pre-packaged goods intended for retail sale that can be sold without further packaging. The Standard includes rules regarding naming, identification, language, content, retail price, instructions for use, date marking, expiry, etc.
