Long title
An Act to provide for the development, promotion and maintenance of standardisation and quality in connection with commodities and the rendering of related conformity assessment services; and for that purpose to provide for the continued existence of the SABS, as the peak national institution; to provide for the establishment of the Board of the SABS; to provide for the repeal of the Standards Act, 1993; to provide for transitional provisions; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Entry into force notes
This Act comes into operation on a date determined by the President by Proclamation in the Gazette.
Abstract

This Act provides for the continuation of the South African Standards Bureau as the principal national standardization institution in South Africa responsible for the development, maintenance and promotion of South African National Standards and provides for the promotion, adoption, issuing and implementation of national standards in South Africa.
