The principal objects of the Trust shall be: (a) to promote the permanent preservation for the benefit of St. Helena of lands and buildings of beauty or historical interest and, in the case of lands, the preservation of their natural aspect features and animal, plant and marine life; and (b) to maintain and manage lands acquired by the Trust as open spaces or places of public resort and buildings so acquired for purposes of public recreation, resort or instruction. The Trust may acquire, develop, sell or lease land for the realization of its objects. The Ordinance also establishes a Trust Council to further the purpose and exercise the powers of the Trust, and to execute such other functions as are conferred upon it by or under this Ordinance.
