Abstract

These Regulations amend the Specified Products from China (Restriction on First Placing on the Market) (England) Regulations 2008 in order to implement Commission Implementing Decision 2011/884/EU on emergency measures regarding unauthorized genetically modified rice in rice products originating from China. The Commission Decision provides that import restrictions that previously applied to Bt 63 genetically modified rice shall now apply, with modifications, to all unauthorized genetically modified rice. These Regulations also require the Food Standards Agency to carry out a review of the principal Regulations at intervals of not more than five years.
