Abstract The present Regulation lays down rules on the protection of wild species in Sweden. The Regulation prohibits, in relation to the wild animal species that have been marked with N or n in Appendix 1, capturing or killing such animals; disturbing them, especially during the animals' mating, breeding, hibernation, and migration periods; destroying or collecting eggs; and harming or destroying the animals' breeding areas or resting places. Special rules are laid down for wild birds. Regarding plant species marked with N in Appendix 1 to this regulation, it is prohibited to intentionally pick, collect, cut, uproot, or destroy the plants in their natural distribution area in the wild. The prohibition applies to all stages of the plants' biological cycle. Regarding wild vascular plants, mosses, lichens, fungi, and algae specified in Appendix 2 to this regulation, it is prohibited, to the extent indicated in the appendix: to pick, dig up, or otherwise remove or damage specimens of the plants; and to remove or damage seeds or other parts. The Regulation prohibits the import, export, or re-export live birds and eggs with embryos of species living in the wild within the European Union's European territory; and of live animals and plants of species marked with N or n in Appendix 1 to this regulation. Exhibition of wild species in zoos without authorization is prohibited. Full text Swedish Website www.livsmedelsverket.se References - Legislation Repeals Species Protection Regulation (1998:179).
