Abstract

South Africa National Sanitation Policy 2016 is a cross sectoral policy prepared with the vision that sanitation services in South Africa will contribute significantly to public health and that South Africa will be hygienic, equitable, sustainable and efficient for all people. The policy is based on the principles of ‘polluter pays’, ‘user pays’ and on increasing the recognition of the economic value of sanitation as crucial to the provision of sustainable sanitation services.
