Abstract

This Title of Article 15 of the Environmental Conservation Law of New York (the Article 15 being known as the Water Resources Law of New York) concerns source water protection projects. It provides that the commissioner of environmental conservation of New York is authorized to provide state assistance to municipalities, not-for-profit corporations and soil and water conservation districts to undertake land acquisition projects for source water protection, in cooperation with willing sellers. Land acquisition projects for source water protection shall support, expand or enhance drinking water quality protection, including but not limited to aquifers, watersheds, reservoirs, lakes, rivers and streams. The Title further provides for land acquisition projects for source water protection, and approval and execution of the projects.
