These Regulations establish minimum standards governing the design, construction, installation, operation and maintenance of solid waste storage, collection and disposal systems, so as to prevent pollution of drinking and other waters of Palau and to contribute to conservation of natural resources and environment. The Regulations are divided into 9 Paragraphs: General requirements; Storage requirements; Solid waste collection; Solid Waste Management Responsibility and Facility Standards; Solid Waste Permit System; Variances; Solid Waste Management Plans required; Enforcement; Miscellaneous provisions. Regulation 3 contains definitions. Regulation 5 concerns the storage of food waste. Regulation 13 concerns the responsibility for the storage or disposal of waste. Regulation 21 prescribes standards for the disposal of hazardous wastes. Establishment or operation of solid waste disposal facilities requires a permit from the Board in accordance with regulations 23 and 24.
