The Act defines powers and functions of the Agency and provides with respect to its administration and operation. The Agency shall, among other things: promote and facilitate development programmes, instruments and support services to accelerate development, modernisation, networking and linkage of small and medium scale industries; mobilise internal and external resources, including technical assistance for small and medium scale industries, their support institutions, trade associations, and non-governmental organization; oversee, coordinate and monitor development in the small and medium industries sub-sector; design and promote cottage and micro small and medium-scale industrial projects; and provide extension services.
