Abstract This Act establishes the prohibition and prevention for slaughtering of cow and its female progeny in the State of Sikkim. It specifies that no person shall, at any place within the State of Sikkim slaughter or cause to be slaughtered, or offer or cause to be offered for slaughter, a cow. The State Government may appoint a person or a body to monitor and perform the functions of a Competent Authority. Exception through medical certification in writing from the Competent Authority is issued if the cow is to be slaughtered, for suffering from any contagious disease or subject to experimentation in the interest of medical and public research.
