Abstract

The present Ordinance lays down provisions relating to the safety of ships at sea with a view to protect the personnel and the marine environment. The text – consisting of 17 articles – deals with the following aspects: objectives, sphere of application, technical standards for maritime equipment, monitoring of vessels, cooperation on maritime safety, technical rules, special rules for international ship standards, effluent waste water discharge, exceptions and penalties. Five Annexes are enclosed.
