The Act, which is articulated in seven parts, describes, in its second Part, the Authority's functions in details among which is to ensure the protection of the marine environment and the prevention of pollution from ships and the response to marine environment incidents; to assist the implementation of the national oil spill contingency plan; to conduct port State control inspections.
