The overall management of these issues shall be done by the Sewerage Boards of specific geographic areas. The Boards are public interest authorities and shall be governed by the Municipalities. For the purposes of this law, the main objective of the Boards is to provide sufficient and good sewerage systems which fulfil the requirements set out in the Annex to this law. The Boards are also responsible for the operation and maintenance of such systems. The Law is divided in six Parts as follows: Part I, general provisions (arts. 1-2); Part II, geographic areas and Boards (arts. 3-11); Part III, duties and competencies of Boards (arts. 12-21); Part IV, general financial measures (arts. 22-32); Part V, obligations of sewerage systems owners to connect, maintain, repair, etc. (arts. 33-37); Part VI, miscellaneous provisions (arts. 38-50); the Annex to this law lays down the requirements of sewerage systems.
