Abstract This Regulation, composed of five Parts and 37 sections give definitions and make provisions for the growing and selling of strawberry propagation material in Israel. Part 1 gives definitions. Part 2, section (2) prohibits the selling and growing of strawberry propagation material unless according to these regulations. Section (3) sets three classes for strawberry propagation material. Sections (4) and (5) deal with growing requests and approval procedures. Section (6) obliges the authorized grower to inform the Seeds Supervision Service, within 10 days from seeding date, regarding any strawberry plantation. Sections (7)-(11) regulate the use and set conditions for Strawberry Growing Rooms. Growing rooms must be clean of insects and pests, with a concrete or asphalt floor and a waterproof ceiling. A growing room must be composed of a closed atrium and a room/s. The atrium will contain the hygienic facilities, such as water, soap and shoe disinfection devices. Part Three regards the growing of strawberry plants from Meristematic propagation origins. Plants will be tagged for all growing period and cuttings taking from kernel plants shall be operated after plant’s health inspection has been done and cutting shall be tagged with the same information of the kernel plant. Section (20) lists cuttings standards. Part Four regards Strawberry Basic cuttings and basic cuttings growing rooms. Part Five regards the growing and developing of strawberry mother plantations. The production of mother plantations shall be limited to One year from introduction date of the kernel plant or the basic plant to the plantation. Section (32) provides with health standards for mother plantations plantlets. Sections (34) and (35) regard standards related to marking and packaging of plantlets. Section (36) establishes that plantlets originated in a mother plantation and have been packaged according to secs. above shall be labelled as “Authorized Propagation Material”.
