The period for which plant breeder's rights are exercisable in respect of those plant varieties is indicated in the second column of the Schedule. The classes of plants prescribed for purposes of section 21 of the Seeds and Plant Varieties Act are those listed in regulation 5. Column 3 specifies the period of years prescribed for purposes of section 23 (4) of the Act (compulsory licensing). A person who infringes the plant breeder's right in the registered name of a variety of other cereals covered by the scheme here introduced commits and offence.
