The period for which plant breeder's rights are exercisable in respect of those plant varieties is indicated in the second column of the Schedule. Column 4 specifies the period of years prescribed for purposes of section 23 (4) of the Seeds and Plant Varieties Act (compulsory licensing). Some plant breeder's rights here specified include the exclusive right to propagate and to authorize others to propagate that plant variety for the purpose of selling cut blooms, foliage or stems thereof. A person who infringes the plant breeder's right in the registered name of a variety of ornamental and herbaceous plants covered by the scheme here introduced commits and offence.
