This Convention prohibits the use of harmful organotins in anti-fouling paints used on ships and establishes a mechanism to prevent the potential future use of other harmful substances in anti-fouling systems. These Regulations provide for the surveying and certification of Irish ships. All other ships may be subject to inspection when they are in the territorial waters of Ireland.
