Abstract

The present Law lays down provisions relating to the establishment of the National Park Hohe Tauern in the Land of Salzburg. The aim of the protection is to: a) conserve the area of the National Park in its beauty and originality; b) preserve the various characteristic animals and plants including their habitats; c) allow an impressive natural experience for a broad range of people. Moreover, the National Park as a means of environmental education shall contribute to raise the awareness of the idea of National Parks in Austria in general, and of the careful and sustainable use of nature and natural resources. The Law sets forth in detail institutional procedures for the organization and management of the Park. The text consists of 47 articles divided into 5 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Provisions on protection (2); Compensation, redemption and other compensation (3); National Park Management (4); Final provisions (5).
