In particular, the purpose of the above-mentioned Act is to: a) make food as safe as possible for Canadian families; b) protect consumers by targeting unsafe practices; c) implement tougher penalties for activities that put health and safety at risk; d) provide better control over imports; e) institute a more consistent inspection regime across all food commodities; and f) strengthen food traceability.
