Abstract

The purpose of the present Law is to promote closed substance cycle waste management (Kreislaufwirtschaft) in order to conserve natural resources and to ensure environmentally compatible disposal of waste. The text consists of 37 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: Principles of waste management (1); Duties of public waste management authorities (2); Organizing the disposal of hazardous waste (3); Planning of waste management (4); Waste treatment facilities (5); Contaminated sites (6); Authorities, competences (7); Penalties, transitional and final provisions (8).
