Abstract

Inter-Departmental Commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on ecological safety notes that the reduction of negative impact of technological environmental pollution on public health is an important pre-condition of the success of socio-economic transformation under way, improvement of demographical situation and ensuring national security of Russia. Inter-Departmental Commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, for the purpose of the reduction of negative impact of technological environmental pollution on public health has decided to recommend the Government of the Russian Federation: 1). To validate Federal Special Program “Provision of the population of the Russian Federation with drinking water”, to continue in 2002 to finance and carry out “The immediate arrangements for ensuring the population of Russia with drinking water”. 2). To ask State Duma of the Federal Assembly to examine as priority issue and adopt Federal Laws “On drinking water and drinking water supply” and “On protection of subsoil”. 3). To authorize plenipotentiary representatives of the president of the Russian Federation in the federal districts and regional executive bodies to elaborate territorial programs of supply of drinking water to the population in accordance with sanitary norms and requirements currently in force.
