Abstract

These Rules, consisting of 8 Sections, are enacted in accordance with the Fisheries Act, aiming to ensure the operation safety of fishing vessels and maintain the order of fishing areas. Before applying for the Operation Certificate for Squid Jigging Fishing Vessels, Stick-held Dip Netting Fishing Vessels and Transport Vessels proceeding to the North Pacific Ocean, the monitoring system of fishing vessels (with the functions of reporting automatically vessel position and catch data) must be installed and tested. Fishing vessels with stick-held dip netting operating concurrently in saury sanma fishery shall not be allowed to apply for and obtain the certificate of operation for the following year if the record of the vessel's monitoring system is interrupted for 20 days during the annual fishing season.
