Abstract This Order aims for promoting, ensuring and protecting the welfare of animals while they are being loaded and unloaded in the ports and transported by sea. This Order applies on private or public passenger-cargo or pure cargo vessels and vehicles authorized to transport animals and companies or persons involved in transporting animals. Article 5 of the text provides for basic considerations such as weather conditions and its effect on duration of stay of animals on board; responsibility of the owner or person in charge to conduct transport with regard to welfare conditions of animals; and good handling and transport management. The Order further provides for requirements before transport, shipper responsibilities, loading and unloading requirements, and penal provision.
