Abstract This Decree, consisting of 13 articles, aims at establishing the Public Authority for Stores and Food Reserve in Oman with the following objectives and specifications: (i) management and presentation of the facilities and warehouses, their annexes for commercial storage and the storage of basic food commodities; (ii) setting up the necessary storage warehouses and their related facilities, installations and basic equipment to conform with modern storage styles; (iii) to provide the required quantities of the basic food commodities and to secure their storage in the Sultanate; (iv) to follow the safe principles in storage operations to prevent damage and deterioration of the stored food materials level; (v) to set a system for the movement of the stored food commodities in the Sultanate, in coordination with private sector for keeping the stock in a good condition and its continual replenishment in order not to drop below its established minimum level; (vi) to coordinate with the private sector for the preparation of a plan for the distribution of the reserve stock to the consumers in cases of emergency, and to compensate the deficit whenever it is required; and (vii) preparation of studies about the minimum levels of the food reserve to be always available in the government stores.
