Abstract

This Act consisting of 12 articles aims at regulating the trade in wildlife and wildlife products by the system of import/export permits according to the rules of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The permits issued by the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development do not include farm animals, plants of agricultural crops and the wildlife organism or product obtained for the purpose of scientific research. The National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development issues lists for the wildlife organisms and establishes rules and standards to be met by the places where these organisms can be placed. A concerned department of the Ministry of Interior is responsible for inspecting transport vehicles, points of sale, warehouses and take the necessary measures in case of violations. Articles 7-9 provide for penalties and fees. Controls can be established at the access points by land, sea and air.
