The Strategic Plan of the National Department of Health (NDOH) provides a framework of the implementation of the 10 Point Plan of the health sector for 2009-2014, which is aimed at creating a well-functioning health system capable of producing improved health outcomes. The outcome-based approach adopted by government to accelerate the implementation of the NDOH Strategic plan guides the development of specific strategies in the sector. The four focus areas of the Health Negotiated Service Delivery Agreement are: increasing life expectancy; decreasing maternal and child mortality; combating HIV and AIDS and decreasing the burden of disease from Tuberculosis; and strengthening health system effectiveness. Strategic Objectives: Integrate core nutrition interventions into the overarching framework for the delivery of MNCWH & Nutrition services. Build capacity of Nutrition units at provincial and district with appropriate advocacy skills training and information to ensure that adequate human and financial resources are committed to key nutrition interventions.
