It defines the right to access to information, promotes openness and establishes the Information Commission. In principle, every person shall have the right to access information held by or is under the control of a public authority and has the right to access information held by or is under the control of a private body where that information is necessary for the enforcement or protection of any right. The Act sets out the procedures for a request of information and defines exemptions from the right to obtain information. Full text English
