Abstract

This Regulation of the Council of Regional Government provides with respect to potable water supply and sewerage services in the Amhara Region. It is designed to achieve the millennium development goal in the water sector by putting in place a wider coverage of potable water supply and sewerage disposal system as well as by designing an information mechanism encompassing the water utilization of each and every water customer and the general nature of utilization thereof. The Regulation introduces a system of grading of water supply and sewerage services and provides with respect to composition and duties of the Management Board to be established within the organization of the Office of Urban Potable Water Supply and Sewerage Services. The Regulations also provides rules with respect to provision of water supply and sewerage services by Urban Potable Water Supply and Sewerage Services. Some provisions also concern contamination of water and water quality standards.
