Abstract

This Resolution of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) requires Contracting Parties, cooperating non-Parties, fishing entities and regional economic integration organizations (“CPCs”) to take and impose on their vessels certain measures for the reduction of bycatch of juvenile tunas, sharks, billfishes, rays, dorado, and other non-target species and sea turtles. It also requires IATTC staff to undertake actions to reduce bycatch of species of large pelagic fish of interest to the artisanal fishery, billfish, sharks and ray and turtles.
