Abstract

This Resolution regulates the import of live cattle in Lebanon from foreign countries. It allows agricultural companies, farms and importers registered at the Directorate of Livestock to import cows, sheep, goats, camels or pigs from other countries. The conditions of the registration of the importers are listed in the text. The Director of Livestock, the Head of the Import Export Control and Veterinary Quarantine and the Head of the Animal Health Department under the supervision of the Directorate General of Agriculture will examine the applications for the registration of importers. The importers of live cattle shall submit a notification to the Directorate of Livestock. The applicants have to present an attestation identifying the country of origin as an allowed country for the import or transit of the consignment and have to respect the standards of the veterinary quarantine of the country of origin or of Lebanon. The import from contaminated countries has to be compliant with the health standards laid down by the Directorate of Livestock in accordance with the recommendations of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). A quarantine period of 21 days is obligatory for all the imported live cattle. The documents necessary to accompany the shipment of imported live cattle are specified in the text. Other procedures to be done for the arrival of the imported cattle in the ports are listed in the text.
