Abstract

These norms and rules for the rational use and protection of subsoil establish uniform requirements for the classification of hydrocarbon reserves and projected resources. Hydrocarbon deposit (part thereof) is a natural accumulation of hydrocarbons, in terms of quality, quantity and conditions of their occurrence, suitable for industrial and other economic use. Hydrocarbon reserves and resources are classified based on the results of geological study, exploration of the subsoil separately for each deposit, taking into account their degree of exploration and economic significance. Based on the degree of exploration, hydrocarbon reserves are classified into categories A, B, C1, C2. Hydrocarbon reserves of categories A and B are the basis for preparing explored fields (parts thereof) for development and (or) the basis for their development. Hydrocarbon reserves of category C1 and category C2 are the basis for further work on the geological study of the subsoil at the field (part of it).
