Abstract These Regulations consist of 9 clauses and aim at pollution control. It shall be prohibited to drain liquid waste into the sea unless in possession of an authorization issued by the Ministry of Transportation. The request for the drainage of liquid waste shall comply with articles 13 and 14 of Royal Decree No. 10/82. The Request shall also contain the regulation for the re-use (recycle) of the liquid waste. In addition, the request shall contain the mode of drainage and the place as well as the chemical and physical characteristics of the waste material. It shall be absolutely prohibited to drain in the sea pesticides, radioactive substances, materials for chemical and biological war, etc. In addition to the aforementioned regulations, it shall be prohibited to drain any material which may change the nature of the water such as its colour, smell, increase the temperature of the water, reduce the quantity of oxygen, change the concentration of ions of hydrogen, increase or reduce the percentage of saltiness, etc. The Ministry may ask the applicant to provide additional information about the physical, chemical and biological requirements of the site.
