Abstract This Resolution, consisting of 7 articles, creates the National Committee for the Man and the Biosphere Programme (MaB) under the National Directorate for the Environment. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Committee entitled to perform the following activities: a) Coordinate, in conjunction with the UNESCO National Commission (CNU), the activities of the Man and the Biosphere Programme in Cape Verde; b) Promote the concept of biosphere reserve; c) Promote, in articulation with the CNU, the interconnection between public or private entities with the MaB Programme; d) Ensure national representation at the Scientific Committee of the International Coordination Council of the MaB Programme and the MaB Bureau; e) Give its opinion in Cape Verde's participation processes in other international programmes in the area of biodiversity, when related to the MaB Programme; f) Analyze, in collaboration with the CNU, national applications for the classification of new biosphere reserves; and g) Develop any other activities that contribute to the promotion in Cape Verde of the MaB Programme.
