Abstract This Regulation consisting of 29 artcles divided in V Parts aims at establishing the conditions to which owners of fishing boats, artisan fishing vessels and coastal fishing vessels must adjust their conditions within 6 months from the date of their enforcement. Main provisions are (i) it is necessary to get a permit to practice the gill-net fishing; (ii) the duration of the permit is one year, extendable by another year if the indicated conditions are met; (iii) the permit holder must comply with the indicated fishing net measures; (iv) it must be avoided that turtles, mammals and other animals whose fishing is prohibited fall into the nets; (v) you can only fish in the authorized points; (vi) the percentage of fish incidentally caught with gill-nets must not exceed 5% of the entire catch; (vii) landing for artisanal vessels is permitted only in landing locations approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries; (viii) articles 19-27 list the prohibited actions related to fishing methods, seasons, fish species, fishing locations, and use of gill nets by commercial, artisanal or coastal fishing vessels.
